You will use your Microsoft password (personally generated by you) when:

  • Logging into M365 on the web
  • Logging into M365 on mobile web
  • When you click Sign into Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel (first it will authenticate you, then you have to put in your app password)
  • In all instances, MFA will send you a text, email or push notification if you are using the app


You will use your MFA app password when:

  • Prompted for a password in Outlook or Skype
  • After you are authenticated in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Mobile Mail Client (not mobile web)
  • MFA will be remembered on your device (laptop or phone) for 60 days and you should not have to re-authenticate if you click “remember password” until 60 days out


App Passwords:

  • You only need 1 app password to use for all apps
  • To create an app password

    • Go to www.acuitycloudsolutions.com/portal log in with personal password and then go to > Your picture (top right) > My Account > Security & Privacy (left pane) > Additional Security Verification > Create and manage app passwords > Create


Password reset requests should only be sent when you have forgot your Microsoft web personal password. Please write down any app passwords you generate and may need in the future.
